Co-pilot for one day

7 November 2019

Always wanted to know what a day in the life of one of our drivers is like? We will take you through it in this article! You will then learn more about what abilities a driver for Lux Logistics needs to have and about the comprehensive service we offer on a daily basis.

Our day usually starts between 4am and 5am in the morning, depending on the schedule that has been planned. We receive this schedule the day before, which is prepared by the dispatchers at the office. This takes into account customers’ (specific) loading and unloading hours and appointment time. The trailer is preloaded or we still need to load it ourselves before departure, depending on the goods and the customer.

We have around 50 Belgian drivers on the road every day, each one of whom is a born driver. LUX Logistics has a dynamic, young team and we receive regular training in order to keep up with the latest developments. Accuracy, punctuality and friendliness are some of the characteristics that you need to have as a driver.

We are on the road for up to 9 hours a day. This may be 10 hours twice a week. In addition to these driving times, there are also our working hours when we load and unload or rest. This sometimes means a total of 90 hours for us every two weeks.

Safety is a priority. We are not only concerned about our own safety, but also about that of other road users. Our most important task is to bring the goods safely to the unloading site and deliver them. For example, specific safety equipment has to be provided for steel supplies. We therefore provide this, in addition to our standard equipment.

Driving for LUX Logistics is about more than just being a driver; it’s about being part of one big family!
